January Workshop: Almanach & Intentions
In this workshop, we’ll explore the concept of the almanach, using it as a format to set goals and intentions for the year. It doesn’t need to be solely focused on deep or personal intentions — it can be about anything you want to hold space for: cooking skills, reading goals, outdoor adventures, movie nights, or self-care rituals. Making an almanach is essentially creating an action and invitation to hold our intentions.
During the workshop, we’ll look at inspiring almanachs (this month’s curation), create our own — physically or digitally — choose ingredients like color, typeface, and format, and print them if digital.
When: Sunday, January 24, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Where: 1835 rue Everett
Limited spots available — reserve yours now!
What is an almanach?
An almanach is a companion through time. It’s a book that gathers, over a set period (usually a year), temporal markers and curated content: dates, seasons, cycles, knowledge, observations, stories, images, or rituals.
But beyond its classic definition, an almanach is:
• a printed rhythm
• a way to traverse time with intention
• a blend of practicality and poetry
Historically, it included:
• calendars, moon phases, and celebrations
• agricultural, meteorological, or medicinal advice
• texts, proverbs, and anecdotes
Today, especially in independent and artistic publishing, an almanach often becomes:
• a sensitive editorial object
• an archive of the present
• a space for reflection, creation, and observing the world
• something to consult, browse, and inhabit
What you’ll take away from the workshop:
Your own almanach
Physical or digital, personalized with your choice of colors, typefaces, and formats
Filled with your intentions, goals, and little rituals for the year
A clear plan for your intentions
A simple, actionable way to hold space for what matters to you
From reading goals and cooking projects to self-care days or outdoor adventures
Inspiration and references
Historical and contemporary almanach examples
Practical skills
Typography: choosing and applying typefaces
Layout, composition, and design techniques
Printing: paper, colors, and formats
A creative and immersive experience
A chance to connect with your body, your mind, and your intentions
Motivation to continue creating and holding your intentions throughout the year
By the end of the day, you’ll leave with a tangible object, practical skills, and inspiration to carry your intentions into 2026 ✨
